Support with treatment

What is PIM?

Individualised Medication Preparation is a pharmacy service that organises medication according to a person's treatment plan. Each blister compartment identifies the day and time the dose should be taken.

It is designed to help simplify treatment management and avoid missed doses, giving greater peace of mind to patients, families and carers. The service does not replace a prescription or advice from a doctor or pharmacist.

Information is based on the approved general standard for Individualised Medication Preparation from the Portuguese Pharmaceutical Society. Updated 16 July 2026.

Personalised support

How the PIM service works

  1. Initial contact

Tell us about the person's needs and arrange an assessment.

  2. Medication review

The pharmacy team confirms the treatment, dosing times and which medicines are suitable for the service.

  3. Preparation and checking

Medication is organised into labelled blister packs and checked before collection.

  4. Ongoing support

Any treatment changes should be reported so that future packs remain up to date.

Not every medicine can be packed in a blister. The team confirms each case during the assessment.
